at the moment I am bed ridden, sick with self diagnosed influenza...this could not have come at a worse time as it is the end of second semester and there is a lot to get through [prayers would be appreciated], but things have been good lately, God has shown me a lot of his character through Joshua and judges especially, and I just see how mush he has always been the same, God had the character of Jesus in the OT as well, because God is Jesus and Jesus is God.
A big thing in my life happened this week! ...so for our psalms assignments we have been journalling psalms every week and once a month we have had a creative assignment were we have presented something creative inspired by the psalms, a lot of us made several song, so our school leader decided to send us to a recording studio to record a CD that would raise money to help people from the pacific islands be able to do SBS. we recorded demos on friday and went to one of Australia's best studios on tuesday to record, it was so much fun! So I have two of my own songs on there and I'm backing on another song, we were all together 6 girls recording and the CD will be out on itunes in a couple of weeks! so please by it, it goes to a really good cause! this was really fun for me to do, never expected an opportunity like this to come knocking, and I got a lot of good feedback which was encouraging!
other than that, I am exited to have a little vacation in two weeks, it will be good to rest my brain a little, so I will be going down to the Gold Coast to visit family and then down to Sydney to visit my friend Lisa :)
thank you all for your prayers and support!
grace and peace <3
[btw. this is the link for the studio we recorded at: http://www.heliportstudios.com/ ]
so the old testament has begun! It was cool being done with the NT, we had a huge oral exam at the beginning of the year after doing all the Johns, and it was sweet to just reflect and look back at all I had learned, there is a lot I don't even realise goes into my brain, and that just comes up in conversations and stuff, this gives me hope that at least somethings are filed somewhere in my brain.
things are definitely moving fast, we have reached our half way mark of SBS and to celebrate we have a long weekend off and we are going on a retreat to rainbow beach 2 hours north from here, it is a break that comes just at the right time! starting the OT has been a bit rough as the workload is bigger and the way we have to readjust our brain to thinking different takes a little time, but I feel like I am getting better at it, and even if the workload is a little bigger, the stuff I am learning makes it all worth it, I have been so overwhelmed seeing God's sovereign love all throughout the first books of the Pentateuch, just how much he cares and how he is always the same and everything points back to Jesus Christ and it just reveals that God had a plan all along and his plan was always to save his people and set them apart as holy so they could be with him and now that has happened, and I am so glad we have his spirit in us and that he showed us how to live by coming as man and then gave the ultimate sacrifice for atonement of sin and guilt and shame - himself! [Halleluja! :P]
Anyways I am having a good time and I thank you all for your prayers and support!!
First semester is over! we are nearly done with the new testament, and the letters of Paul are long gone. It was a good start, I feel exited and a bit anxious to take on the Old testament with way bigger books and less time, but on the other hand I am so exited to get to know more about the history, more about god's character, more about the people of Israel and more about God's never ending love for his children.
the last month we did a lot of smaller books and also the corinthians, this was cool, but also confusing as the books tend to get mixed up in my brain, but I think the biggest thing I learned through al these letters written to people in persecution, learning about perseverance and joy in trials and being steadfast no matter the circumstance, I got this revelation that; we always complain to god when stuff in our life goes wrong, we have this debate of whether or not god lets us go through stuff or if he gives us trials, but all that aside, we inflict way more pain on ourselves when we sin and walk away from god, we damage our heart and it is hardened- something that is a way bigger hurt and pain that nay one could ever inflict on us in the physical, even torture, because the body is temporary [James 4:14], but the heart or the spirit will last for eternity, so what right do we have being mad at God for physical trials, when they actually help heal our heart which we have damaged, and grow us closer to God our father who loves us, this we know!"Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so"
Christmas break:
all though I have had a great time studying I must say it was good to have a break! some time to do whatever, and just be, without too much brain activity:P
we started the break with a bonfire at the beach and then I took one of my friends; Helen, from the SBS down to the Gold coast with me to celebrate christmas with my grandparents, aunt and uncle and my little 5 year old cousin, It was so great, and really wonderful to be around family during christmas, I drove back up to the coast the 27th and have just been resting, doing craft watching movies, playing guitar and harmonica, just chilling and re-charging :)
tomorrow is new years eve and we might do a bonfire again at the beach, they're so great :P
I hope you all had a great Christmas! thanks for all support!
